EMILIO MORO RIBERA DEL DUERO TEMPRANILLO 2018

I like the balance of the eponymous 2018 Emilio Moro, which achieved full-ripeness and development of aromas and flavors in a cooler vintage. Here, the wines are selected by vine age, and this comes from vines that are between 15 and 25 years of age. The oak is there but in synchrony with the fruit.

Deep, dense colour. Aromas of smoky oak and roasted black cherries. In the mouth it’s supple with abundant ripe dark fruit on the palate. There’s a firm grain of tannin on the finish. Richness is lifted by a zest of acidity. Fermented in stainless steel and aged for six months in 50% French and 50% American oak. A promising result in a complicated vintage and a good introduction to the Emilio Moro style.
