750 ML.80% Tinta Fina 10% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon
91 points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Conde San Cristobal spent 12 months in French, Russian, and American oak. Purple-colored, it reveals a complex bouquet of cedar, pencil lead, mineral, spice box, black currant, and blackberry. It has layers of fruit, a plush texture, excellent flavors, and light tannin. It will blossom for another 2-3 years and drink well through 2020." (Feb. 2008) . One of the most exciting new finds for us at K&L is the 2004 Conde San Cristobal Ribera del Duero. This internationally styled wine from, arguably, the most modern of Spanish wine regions is a blend of 80% Tinta Fina (Tempranillo), 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot. The wine comes from vines between 10-25 years old, is fermented in stainless steel tanks and spends 12 months in a combination of French, American and Russian Oak. The vineyards are treated organically, using no herbicides or pesticides, only natural fertilizers. All this adds up to one smokin' wine, displaying grainy black currant ripeness on the nose cut with the spice of licorice ropes. This is fresh and lively in the mouth showing a lovely weight for something so forward. No cloying glycerin gets in the way here, just big, bombastic flavors of cocoa and plum with a long bursting finish. This will appeal to just about anyone. (Bryan Brick, K&L)
